GUATEMALA CITY – The Spanish charity Gaudium Paidos will distribute this weekend two containers of food to poor families in the eastern Guatemalan village of Barranca Seca.

The international president of the group, Armando Lusquiños, told Efe on Friday that two containers full of corn and beans will be delivered to some 500 people living in the village.

He said the shipment of food, the first his organization has distributed in Guatemala, is part of a special consignment from Gaudium Paidos, which has been working in this country for seven months.

Besides providing food, doctors of the Spanish association will also give Barranca Seca residents a checkup to determine whether they are suffering from malnutrition, diarrhea or any other ailments.
