May 29, 2010, 9:45 p.m. A report from New Hope-Guatemala: “Guatemala is in deep problems for a couple of reasons. We thought we had problems with the eruption of the Pacaya volcano, but now with the Tropical storm Agatha we know what trouble is. This is like living hurricane Stan all over again.
Guatemala city is flooded. The rain has washed the black sand that was expulsed by the volcano into the drains and they are stopping up. San Andres, the town where the ministry is located is pretty well isolated at the moment, with the bridge between S.A. and Panajachel washed out, and the other roads in and out closed due to mud slides. That is pretty well the story all over the country.
It is dark now, and I am sure we will have a better picture in the morning. I ask you to pray for Guatemala. Only God can help us at the moment.
Many familys are being left with nothing as there homes are washed away, and/or flooded. As you pray ask the Lord what He would have you do to help. You can go to the web site and see how to give. Guatemala is going need a lot of help, let us be among the first.”
