UPDATED Urgent Patient Need: Inguinal Hernia Repair

Thank you to Ray Maddox of Faith in Practice, and Joanne Wessels (their in-country coordinator) for taking care of this case.

COTA has a 75 yr old gentleman who is in urgent need of inguinal hernia repair. His hernia is not strangulated, but he experiences frequent bouts of incapacitating pain. He is located in Retalhuleu. If anyone knows of a team traveling to this region in the near future, please contact Jody Greenlee at green71957@aol.com.

UPDATED Current Need: Pediatric Burn Case

UPDATE: Link for Health was able to network this case to The Shalom Foundation, which will have a plastic surgery team in Guatemala City in November. A $200 donation has been pledged to Mayan Families for this child in order to pay for his transportation to the team.

Plastic Surgery is needed for an eight year old boy with severe contractions secondary to healed burns that were not treated professionally. He is located in Panajachel. Please either ...complete post

Do you remember this post? Leonel Culan, the man who became a paraplegic and whose family was in terrible shape, is coming home today! He will be returning to a much different home, he has beds, the floor is cemented, they have a kitchen put in, the bathroom is under progress, the family has food, and the entrance way is cemented. Children of the Americas screened a 17 yr old female from Guatemala City who is in need of extensive contracture releases. She was assessed on January 24th by Jody Greenlee, RN and photos are available.

Adriana suffered extensive third degree burns to her face, neck, arms and abdomen one year ago when a gas lamp exploded in her home. Her wounds healed but she has had no burn garments, contracture releases, or physical therapy. Heavy keloid ...complete post
